On December 14th, we delivered 5 LARGE boxes of toys to the Florida Hospital for Children.
This marks the 8th year of Oviedo Lodge’s participation in this worthy cause.
Tom Bryson, Past Master of Oviedo Lodge, started this annual event many years ago. In 2005, Oviedo Masonic Lodge began participating, with toy and cash donations from its membership. This year they began partnering with local businesses as well, receiving a sizable donation from the Mitchell Wade Salon in Oviedo, who encouraged customer participation by offering discounted salon products to their customers who brought in toys.
The hospital staff was very excited and appreciative of the donations. “We are currently running at 100% capacity”, said Lisa Robertson of Florida Hospital. “Many people assume that we would be slower over the holidays, but with the increase in out-of-town visitors, that is almost never the case.” “Celebrating the holidays means a lot to the children and families that have to be here, and we simply would not be able to provide much without help like this from the community.”
